Giving Thanks to Our Veterans

Veterans Day is celebrated in the United States on November 11th. It is a day to honor all of the brave men and women who have served in the military. Veterans Day also marks the signing of the armistice that ended World War I. At The Village of Zephyrhills, we are grateful for our military veterans, and we are proud that many veterans and retirees choose to call our community home. Thank you, veterans!

While we honor the sacrifice and service of veterans on November 11th, we want to make sure that they have a safe and secure place to come home to every day of the year. The Village of Zephyrhills, located just off U.S 301 in Zephyrhills, is a mobile home and RV park developed with a mission to provide veteran-friendly and affordable housing for seniors 55+.

Why Many Military Retirees Become Snowbirds

Retirement is a time for military veterans to enjoy their lives and live in peace. Retiring from the military can be difficult for some veterans because of how much they have given to their country and because they are used to having a strict schedule. But it also can be an exciting experience that includes benefits like the ability to live or travel whenever they want, to pursue their hobbies, and spend more time with loved ones!

That’s why many military retirees become seasonal snowbirds, traveling to warmer climates during the winter months to avoid icy, cold weather up north. For many retired veterans, the freedom that comes with a snowbird lifestyle is a reward after years of dedicated service!

Florida is a popular destination for snowbirds, offering a variety of affordable, seasonal housing options (like The Village of Zephyrhills), beautiful beaches, and perfect weather. The state also has a well-established network of public and private services to support seniors and military retirees. Zephyrhills, Florida, where The Village of Zephyrhills is located, has a rich military history and offers access to a local Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) outpatient clinic as well as nearby military bases.

The Village of Zephyrhills’ Advantage: Where Snowbirds and Military Veterans Go to Retire and Why You Should Consider It Too

In addition to its proud support for military veterans, the city of Zephyrhills is known for its welcoming, friendly small-town feel. Providing a sense of community for all residents is very important to The Village of Zephyrhills, too. One of the main goals of The Village of Zephyrhills is to create a safe, secure, and livable community for seniors and veterans – unlike any other in Zephyrhills! Added security features also help give veterans peace of mind, and residents appreciate how close-knit the neighborhood is.

The Village of Zephyrhills offers a wide range of veteran-friendly and affordable housing options, including one-bedroom mobile homes, two-bedroom mobile homes, and RV lots. Many of the mobile homes in the age-restricted community are brand-new, structured as a village of tiny homes! Community amenities also include free Wi-Fi, a beautiful pool, an air-conditioned clubhouse, an indoor game room, an outdoor picnic/BBQ area, and laundry facilities.

The Village of Zephyrhills also accepts federal HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) vouchers, which help provide veterans in need with sustainable housing in the private market. This program combines rental assistance through Section 8/Housing Choice Vouchers from local housing authorities with case management and clinical services from the VA.

We appreciate all our veterans have done to serve our country, and we are proud to provide housing for them. We encourage you to thank and celebrate the veterans in your life, not just on Veterans Day but every day!
